About Me
About me. Or in other words, how did this all get started?
In May of 2005, I became a cancer survivor.
Before cancer, I had a very stereotypical ”someday I’d like to…” list in my head, but as often happens, the pressures and concerns of everyday life kept getting in the way. In May of 2005 I re-prioritized.
Among other things, I took the stained glass class that had been on my list for way too many somedays. Next I wanted to see if anyone would actually buy any of my pieces, and I really wanted to help contribute to cancer research. I held a craft fair as a fundraiser, and thanks to the purchases of my dear and generous friends and co-workers, we raised almost $3000 for the American Cancer Society that day. And so I moved on to another “someday…” item, and started a small company.
By business standards, ‘by the glass’ is a very, very small company. When people ask me if I have a studio, I say “No. I have half of a laundry room.”
By survivor standards, ‘by the glass’ is a celebration of not letting everyday life get in the way of living every day.
If life is getting in the way of your someday list, please take time to reprioritize.
